biography

From an early age, probably around 7 years old, Seth was always interested in the sounds he heard. Whether it was music or the cars passing quickly outside his quiet, upstate New York home. As the youngest of six boys, there were little resources to afford him much opportunity for any sort of lessons. His brothers, all creative in their own ways, influenced Seth with their own creativity. From sketching to singing, he would practice all the time with crayons and later colored pencils and paint. Sometimes his mother would sing and Seth would quickly pick up the melodies and mumble along.

At thirteen, Seth picked up his first acoustic guitar and started teaching himself how to play. He would first concentrate on Pink Floyd's Dark Side of the Moon and The Wall among the other late 70's rock bands, and later begin experimenting with classical music such as Beethoven and Mozart with Dream Theater closing in. After a while, he began experimenting with writing his own music. His first completed song was a ballad entitled So Many Times which he recorded on an old school analog 8 track since money was always an issue. As difficult as times were, he never lost sight of his gift of making music.

He finally landed his first gig in New York's Greenwich Village performing as a solo acoustic artist as so many others like Bob Dylan did before him. After a year or two, he met up with an old elementary schoolmate, also into writing. Their collaborations led to some great music but he then moved and they parted ways.

Throughout his university days in Miami, Seth continued performing solo on South Beach's outdoor veranda clubs usually on nights and weekends. After graduation, he moved back to New York where he met up with three guys looking to form a cover band. They worked their butts off and formed Route Nine. Touring for three years in the Northeast proved exhaustive and Seth found himself unfulfilled as his dream of writing and performing his own original music was not met. Seth respectfully removed himself from Route Nine and about a year later met up with Chris and JJ and formed Mankind together with Frank.

As lead singer, frontman , writer and lyricist, Mankind created original "epics" in their terrific music. The band played out often but later, Seth felt his musical directions were shifting and the other members in general also had different musical goals. Seth was acting as business manager, booking agent, writer, graphic designer, etc. and wearing all these "hats" also took its toll.

After five years, Seth stills writes and performs with Mankind and continues writing on his own. Currently, Seth is writing and recording more original music which is more along the vein of his roots. His heartfelt, soulful music incorporates both warm acoustic and edgier electric guitars, off time signatures, moody melodies and haunting vocal leads. His harmonies are an integral part of his signature style and add to the sense of forward thinking and nostalgia one gets from listening. Seth also owns and operates a website / graphic design firm in his hometown of Spring Valley, New York. As a matter of fact, the design of this site was done by him.

With guitar in hand, he stands as a true artist, eccentric at times to say the least, but with his edgy history and strong education, Seth has a great deal to draw on. Besides music, Seth has been a successful and savvy businessman for over 12 years. From the sales of high priced diamonds and automibiles to owning and operating his own businesses, his professionalism and business ethic are true.
